You should find sub topics related to diabetes which do not have much competitions like, “Tips to control diabetes with natural food and way of living” or “Some facts of diabetes and heart disease” or “diabetes and cholesterol”.

What I am trying to explain here is you need to get deeper into a topic which is not that common, less competitive along with good articles on the main topic. The best Niche blogs are those which cover a certain topic in full depth.

You niche blog can be focused on diabetes and cholesterol related.

Your blog domain should be something diabetescholesterol.com, your blog title should be Diabetes and Cholesterol,

Your blog description should be “Understanding the relationship between diabetes and cholesterol” and so on.

What happen is that you are not wasting your time fighting with high value keywords. You have become a super specialist handling only diabetic patients who have cholesterol.

I have been blogging since 2002 when resources where minimal, but today, you will find tons of articles related to blogging or how to start a blog or how to make money from a blog. In this post I am sharing my experience related to blogging, the way I make money from my blogs, and help you set up your blog from the scratch and start making money from your blog. I am also revealing some of my tips and tricks which helped me make money from blogging.

Can we make money Blogging?

Yes, we can, I have been doing it, other than me, millions are doing it. So you can also do it. I will explain everything in details, just continue reading.

Before we continue, let me make something very clear

There are no shortcuts to success.
You will not make millions overnight with your blog.
It would take some months at least to start making profits from your blog earnings.
You need to spend time, money and energy to make money from your blog.
You should be passionate about what your are doing.

There are three steps involved in earning from blogging

Setting up your blog, which is signing up for hosting, domain registration, content management system setup
Structuring your blog with proper category, tags, pages and posts

Should I go for a free blog or a paid one?

There are many free blog services like WordPress, Blogger, etc, but we are not going for those services for some reasons

If you are planning to make money from blogging and take your blog to a higher level, then you would need to go for a self hosted WordPress Blog.

Choosing your blog hosting service

It’s time to make a decision which should be wise as you are going to decide your web hosting service.

I would suggest to go with Dreamhost and choose the DreamPress option which is a optimised WordPress hosting package at a very nominal cost less than US$ 20 per month.

Sign Up for Dreamhost and choose the DreamPress package. You can also register your domain using Dreamhost. The setup process is very simple, so I am not going to go into all the details.

Must have plugins for WordPress

Plugins are used to customise any WordPress Website / Blog as per the requirement. You and add new features to your blog using WordPress Plugins. Some are free and some are paid. Check out the list of plugins that I would recommend.

Recommended Themes for WordPress

WordPress themes are used to modify the looks of your blog / website. You should be very careful while selecting your theme as your theme would effect the overall performance of your blog, not just the looks. I suggest any of these themes, you need to pay and buy. If you do not want to invest now, just start off with a free pre-installed theme, but to make money from blogging, you should have invest and this would be a wise investment.

Now you have your blog setup done, you need to have some other basic setups done like the structure of your blog, categories, tags, which you are planning to use. This can be modified, added or removed, as you start posting content.

How Much money we can make money from a blog every month?

This depends on some factors, some make few dollars a month, some few hundreds, some in thousands. Earning from blogging is not just about putting some Google Adsense ads on your blog, get some clicks and you get paid for that.

Let’s make few more things clear here. It is easy to setup a blog, but to keep a blog updated with fresh content is a difficult task. You should be passionate about what you do, especially when you have to do it every day. You should have a blog where you write about things which you are confident about, have sufficient knowledge to share with others, answer to the queries by readers and so on.

There are blogs which are used to market product and services. You do not make money directly by selling advertisements or Google Adsense, but you sell products / services indirectly.

You will get viewers who would be interested in your e-book. You make money selling those books rather than going for Google Adsense.

Affiliate marketing is a good way to make money from a blog. If you are not aware of affilate marketing, let me tell you in simple words. There are many products sold online. I have signed up as an affilaite for some products which are related to my blog, for example, Some useful WordPress Plugins which I have used. I write my experience about the plugin and put a link on my blog to the plugin seller’s website. Any visitor who comes to my blog page and reads about the plugin and decides to buy, so he clicks on the link provided which has a unique tracking code given to me by the plugin seller. All the visitors sent from my link are tracked. If anybody successfuly purchases, I get a affiliate commisision. You can find tons of such good products. I would suggest that you do good research and then join the affiliate program.

You can start a service of reviewing products that you have good knowledge, you get paid for such services

Now the real task, you have setup your blog, you have 20 pages with great content, but you do not have traffic, how will you make money? Traffic is the Ultimate goal for any blog or website.

Tips to Make visitors spend more time on your website, reduce exit percentage, a visitor should go through more pages, page views should be more than number of unique visitors.

When a visitor comes to your blog and just reads what he or she wants and leaves your blog. This is normally which you and me do, but when we see a good blog or we see things which keep us spending more time on that site. We do this only when we find something interesting or something which is different.

Tips to make your visitors spend more time on your blog / website

You should have some features or tools which will make your first time visitor to spend more time on your blog. This will increase your page views compared to the number of visitors. You can check these stats using your analysis tool and I have mentioned about this in my previous post.

Search Box – You should not forget to add up a search box which is very much showing out. The visitor might not have come to a page which he/she may be looking for. If you have a search box, the visitor may search and get to go and read another page or bookmark that page for future reference.
Bookmarking Tool – Provoke your visitor to bookmark your blog for future reading
Facebook Like Button – Facebook is very popular and is used by most of the netizens, you can make it easy for them to share it on their Facebook page which in turn will bring in more visitors.
Tweet This Button – Twitter is used by millions of users and if you get your post tweeted by a person who has 1000′s of followers then you can imagine the traffic that can be generated.
Email this Link – This could be helpful, but I have not seen this working much these days.

Analyse the Exit % of your blog pages – Check out from which page does more visitors leave your site. If you find that a particular page has greater exit % then you need to improve that page.

As I have described in my previous posts that Google Adsense is the best program for new blogs and the set up is very simple. You do not need to deal with the advertisers directly buy Google Adsense serves ads to your blog your website. Google has two programs which connects advertisers to publishers. Google Adwords is a program for advertisers and Google Adsense is a program for publishers or webmasters. Advertisers buy ads and pay for it and Google servers these ads to publishers through Google Adsense. In this article you find tips to increase google Adsense income which I have learned from my 15 years of experience.

Ad Styling and right format

You can place different kinds of ads like text ads, image ads, linked units with different sizes. You also have the flexibility to style your ads. You should create the ads which look natural with the content. You need to blend the ads into your pages so that the visitors do not feel that they are going to click on any ads

Quality Content

Before even thinking of placing ads on your blog, you should have good content which should make your blog attractive to the visitors. Do not make people think that your blog is just a MFA site.

I am using Google adsense in different websites and every website has different content. Some websites fetch me more than US$ 1.00 per click and some clicks, just less than US$ 0.02. There are many websites giving information about highly paid keywords which you can find by Googling. I do not want to go in details of that as its against the Google Terms and conditions

Ad Sizes

There is option to get different sizes of ads. I have found ads with size 300 x 250 gives good click through rate again that depends on the layout of your blog. You should select the right Ad size for your blog and go through the Adsense revenue sharing reports ad decide the best and try different ad sizes.

These are few tips that should boost your Google Adsense revenue. I would like to remind you that you should always work according to the terms and conditions of Google adsense and never try to get more earnings by clicking on your own ads or ask anybody to click on the ads or you will get your Google adsense account banned. You can even earn from Google Adsense using Revver if you have Video posts and Google Adsense revenue sharing portals are other way to maximize your Google adsense income.

A lot has changed over the period of time, your earning would very much also depend on your traffic, the kind of advertisements that are served on your site and very important Is the geographical location of your visitors. All these would decide your CPC.

Reaching 200 subscribers on YouTube Channel

As I mentioned in my earlier post that I had become active on YouTube by posting some videos related to my travel, food, restaurants I visit , cooking, diet and other experiences of wonderful things that I come across which I feel is interesting. I could increase Youtube subscribers in a good way and I am sharing my experience on how I increased my subscriber count?

I have almost posted about 80 videos on my channel, some of which are posted years back and are not of any much relevance now. In the last 2 months I have posted about 40 videos and have got some good feedback and views too. Its very important that whatever we do should be done with full sincerity and best efforts should be put on.

How did I reach 200 subscribers on my Youtube channel?

The rapid growth of my YouTube Channel Subscribers are because of the quality and topic of my videos. There are no shortcuts, you need to do good work and the viewers should like your videos to subscribe to your channels. There are many sites / services offering you paid subscribers, please do not go for it if your purpose to have a big subscriber base is to show your videos. If your videos are good and the viewer finds it interesting, then definitely, you get a subscriber.

Tips to increase YouTube Subscribers

Detailed Description – Write a detailed description of your video in the description box on YouTube, this would help in getting good number of viewers from the YouTube search.
Right Keywords Tagging – Same like description, you need to tag your videos with right keywords, please do not try any tricks, that will backfire. You should not tag more than 5 keywords.
Categorise your Video – Select the right category for the video you post, will again help in getting right viewers.
Create Public Playlist for your videos – Add your videos to public playlists, that again would help in getting right viewers. Please do not overdo anything, you will be in trouble.
Increase View Time rather than Number of Views – One major factor that I realised is that it is important to have good view time than number of views, which means, suppose you have a video which has 1000 views but has only 100 minutes of view time even though the length of 10 minutes. This means that most of your viewers are leaving the video within few seconds of the video starting to play. What could be the reason? Your video is not what the viewer thought would be, your video quality is poor, your title is misleading, etc.
Write a good title for your video – So its very important that your title should give a good idea about what you are showing in the video.
Have a short and informative intro – First 10 seconds of your video is important. Use a good intro, text titles in the video whenever it is necessary and try to keep your video short, not more than 10 minutes.

Other few factors which you would need to improve the subscriber numbers would be to be consistent with your video posting. Request your viewer to give a thumbs up and also to subscribe.
First 24 hours after posting your video – It’s very important that your video should go crazy in the first 24 hours, if it does well, you will see a lot of traffic to that video from YouTube itself.
Video performance increases Subscribers – If you have good videos, good view time and good number of views, your YouTube Subscriber increases naturally.
Post Videos Regularly – You should have a good pattern to post your videos. Consistency is very important in everything what you do. Post at least 1-2 videos every week.
Video Editing Tools – Use a good software to make your videos look good. I use Final Cut Pro, which is excellent for Mac users. I started off with iMovie. Initially I was editing my iPad Pro to edit and post videos.

Technology I use to create videos for my YouTube Channel

I got a Sony FDR x3000 and a Canon G7X for my video blogging. Also I use my iPhone X for my video shooting. I use a Sony tripod, Manfrotto tripod for my Canon camera and Stuffcool selfie stick for my iPhone X. For exiting my videos, I use LumaFusion and iMovie if I am using my iPad Pro or I use Final Cut Pro if I am using my MacBook Pro.

These are all what I did to get increase YouTube Subscribers on my channel to reach my first 200 subscribers. My aim is reach a four digit subscriber base next. Will keep trying and get to that mark soon. Will do a post once I reach my 1000th subscriber next.

I will be periodically posting updates on my journey towards the set target of 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours.

Reached 255 Subscribers / 1275 Watch Hours – Still to go, About 50 Active Videos

I know still long way to go, but I am sure to reach my goal in next 5 months time if I go like this. I think that I fine, we cannot do things overnight and 5 months would be a good experience for me to be money making YouTuber.

I have started a blog dedicated to YouTube tips and tricks for beginners. I have already shared some tips and tricks for YouTubers, many would be coming soon.

I am also looking for content writers having experience in writing technology articles, tutorials, ete. I would need articles only related to YouTube user point of view. For more details on the Join YouTubeTech as article writer.

It looks good going for me, I have posted about 55 videos during these 3 months. Worked a lot on optimisation and learning to write description, Title and Tags.

It took me around 45 days to gain 100 subscribers, but I am sure these are real subscribers who would be my regular viewers.

Can you write an e-book? Yes you can make money by writing e-books and selling on your blog

If you are good in writing informative e-books, then you can make a lot of money by selling it. You should have good writing skills and deliver unique information using e-books. There are lots of people who do this and make a lot of money.

How to start your e-book business online?

First question, if you don’t know what an e-book is? E-book is an electronic book or digital book which will contain images and text and usually it’s in PDF format. You do not have to bother about printing it and there are no much cost involved other than your time.

Decide on a top and start writing your e-book. An e-book can be of about 25-100 pages or depending upon the topic of the book the number of pages can go up, but I don’t recommend to write an e-book which you would like to sell, to be less than 25 pages.

You can write the e-book using Word processors like the Microsoft word and covert it to PDF format. There are many software available to do this or I think Microsoft Word itself can do that for you or I would suggest Adobe Acrobat which has some great security functions too.

Fine, you have the e-book ready, how do you sell it. First write a sales page for your e-book on your blog, give the table of contents and a sample chapter would also be good so that the buyers get a good idea of what they are going to buy.

Next comes the payment and delivery part. I would recommend e-junkie for this which will handle your e-book delivery and payments through PayPal (most of the other popular payment gateways are supported). Advantage of e-junkie is that your products will be promoted using affiliate programs which is a standard feature of e-junkie. Pay 50% commission to your affiliates, they will also work for you.

Just don’t stop with just one e-book, you can keep writing different e-books and have a good collection of e-books for sale. You can keep updating your existing ones and even create new ones. The more you sell, the more you earn. If you are interested to take some risk, try some advertisements like Google Adwords or buy some ad space on blogs of your niche. If you have blogs with decent traffic, take the advantage, you should use it by writing some reviews or promotional posts, put some ad banners and do the marketing for your e-books.
