I have used most of the popular mini tripods during the last more than one year of vlogging. You will never be comfortable with one device for the simple reason that you are not vlogging in the same environment or other conditions all the time. This is the same case of travel bags, I have tried more than 10 bags, still looking for the perfect one travel bag.
The mini tripods that I have used
- Joby Gorillapod 3K
- Manfrotto PIXI Mini Tripod
- Mafrotto PIXI EVO 2
- Joby Gorillapod 5K
Joby Gorillapod 3K
This is one of the most popular tripod which most of the popular vloggers use and I started using it with my Canon 80D. After a couple of Vlogs, I kept it back because, it was too week to hold my heavy Canon 80D Camera
It was good with my Canon G7X which I was using for most of my travel vlogs. So for small cameras, this is good. The best thing about this is that it is very flexible, can wrap around literally anything and fix your camera to take good shots.
Manfrotto PIXI Mini Tripod
Manfrotto PIXI Mini is a very compact and light tripod, would work great with small cameras. I would not recommend this for any DSLR cameras.
Manfrotto PIXI Evo 2
Manfrotto PIXI EVO 2 is a good mini tripod for medium DSLR, even I would say that you can use it for cameras like the Canon 80D, perfect for the Canon 200D or other mirrorless cameras.
I have used this a lot of time, but this comes with lack of versatility when we compare it with the Gorillapod. Over a period of time, the legs starts becoming loose and you have to buy a new one as I could not find any way to fix the loose legs.
Joby Gorillapod 5K
This is the mini tripod that I use these days. I mostly use the Canon 200D or the Canon 80D which can be handled perfectly with the Joby Gorillapod 5K. This mini tripod can hold weight upto 5Kg which is great and the height is also perfect for most of the shots or even the selfie style blogging.
Overall, all the above four mini tripods are good, but would depend on the kind of usage and cameras that you would use. If you are looking for light weight tripods and use small mirrorless cameras, then I would suggest the Joby Gorillapod 3K or the Manfrotto PIXI EVO 2. If you are ok with some weight, then you can go for the Gorillapod 5K.
